The Dwell Bible App Is AMAZING

Dwell is an incredible app that allows you to listen to verses or chapters of the Bible repetitiously. They have also recently released a playlist feature (think of it like creating a Bible playlist in Itunes).

This is very helpful if you think about all of the time you spend:

  • Commuting

  • Driving

  • Working in the yard

  • Working around the house

  • At the gym

  • etc

We often create secret rules when it comes to Bible reading like the following:

  • I have to use a high lighter or I can never use a high lighter

  • I have to read my plan perfectly every day

  • I have to read all of the study notes

  • Audio Bibles don’t count (Check out the Word of Promise for my favorite Audio Bible)

  • I have to be 100% focused

  • I have to take notes

Many of these rules come from good intentions but can steal away the joy and rest we have in the perfect life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. These rules can also cripple us by not allowing us to use different methods to understand God’s word during the day.

IMPORTANT: Taking notes during your Bible reading or listening is very helpful and I highly recommend using a reading system. (Prof Grant Horner System)

Audio Bibles are not great for study but are fantastic for the following:

  1. repetition (1,189 chapters in the Bible let’s go)

  2. memorization

  3. meditation

  4. prayer while listening

The world of audio Bibles is an incredible blessing that turns your car into a potential discipleship factory on wheels. Remember, this is a tool to use, like any tool it will not work for every situation, however for thousands of years the Bible was learned through “audible” teaching/listening as many people were not able to read or write.

Final word: There are only 260 chapters in the New Testament imagine listening repetitiously (10 times) to 1 chapter per day each year! It will be a tremendous learning and memorization tool after several years :)

Thanks for reading!

Grace,

John
