Use Object Lessons

When teaching children the Bible it can be difficult to keep their attention. This is why using creative object lessons can help them remember key ideas and lessons from the Bible. IMPORTANT: this is not a substitute for reading the Bible with or to them, but this is a fun way to help them learn and feel loved.

There are many great books and articles online about Biblical object lessons.

One that the kids really seem to like involves a clear glass of water. Ask the kids what is in the cup? Then explain living water and what Jesus promises in John 4. How water is essential to life. Then explain sin by taking green food coloring and how it impacts all that we say and do. REMIND them to never put things in their water or play with chemicals. (You can mention it is food coloring afterwards as well which is for food).

Then name some of the 10 commandments and add a drop, the glass will get darker and darker. Finally you can take a drink to their horror and… explain what Jesus did on the cross. Drinking the cup of wrath for those that will repent and believe.

He died and on the the 3rd day… rose!

Thanks for reading!
