Why We Use The New City Catechism

Discipling Children and coming up with ways to hold their attention is hard. On top of this as Dads it is very difficult to plan out each day’s lesson and make it memorable.

For a long time we have used books like RC Sproul’s Essential Truths of The Christian Faith, and even just reviewed 1 Chapter of the New Testament together each night.

BUT with 4 kids ages 8 and under holding their attention was not working ass well as I’d hoped.

Enter the new City Catechism. This curriculum re-enforces key and precise theological vocabulary and concepts. It also uses songs and activities. It can be taught to young children, teens or even adults. It is one of the most helpful tools for us a family and we highly recommend it with this warning:

This does not take the place of reading the Bible with your family or singing hymns, praying and doing outreach/evangelism together.
